The legendary Chicago chef Charlie Trotter said, “I would easily classify Lauraine Jacobs as the high priestess of the international food and wine scene.”
 

It’s hard to live up to such high praise but I have been truly passionate (an often overused word on the food and wine scene) about all things in the culinary world since I completed my Cordon Bleu training in London in the seventies. I started out as FQ’s food editor in 1988 and went on to Cuisine magazine where I have written food features and lots about restaurants, travel and the food producers of New Zealand for the past 22 years. Along the way I have taught classes, won numerous awards, served on the Board of the International Association of Culinary Professionals in the USA for eight years and eaten more good meals than I care to count.

I have written eight books, (three co-authored with Dean Brettschneider) and recently edited A Treasury of NZ Baking which went to number one on the bestseller list. Matakana and The Confident Cook continue to sell well and are available through my website: www.laurainejacobs.co.nz.
