Extra virgin olive oil and seafood is there a better marriage of food.

Of course it was cooked in our Paul Holmes Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Thank you to all of you that braved the weather, came and said hello and enjoyed our tasty morsels, it  was a great festival and we even raised $1000 for the Stellar Trust.

I have started the year with a New Year’s resolution that has taken everyone by surprise. A preservative free year, I hear you saying...now that is something unique or is it down right stupid! This idea was generated by a good Hawkes Bay friend of mind, who like me gave up smoking at the weight piled on. He was introduced to a new way of eating, it was back to basics, eat the way they did in the 1930’s, good wholesome clean food.  What do you know he suddenly lost 10 kilos! So there my idea was born. So for Christmas I received a breadmaker, a great muesli recipe and lots of research.

You have to laugh about how seriously I am taking this. One afternoon a little peckish I was indulging in a delectable dried fig, when suddenly half way through I decide to check the label on the packet, PRESERVATIVE 202! Unfortunately, that was spat out in fury.

It was Valentine’s day and Mr F kindly decided to bring me breakfast in bed, lovely homemade bread, toasted to perfection with fresh boysenberry jam. I quizzed him about whether it had any spread on it and had he checked the label on the jam...I was now safe to eat...with Mr Flay parting shot “Is there anything else I can get you Madame...NOT”

All in the name of research, weight loss and a lot of good wholesome food !
