Rock Cafe - The pursuit of cuisine health and well-being welcome to our Cafe and Cook School!

Posted: 19/10/2009 9:06:46 p.m.

Musical Knives was my original restaurant which opened in Melbourne in 1985 and later moved to Ponsonby Road in 1991. Musical Knives pushed for organic vegetarian cuisine to be acknowledged. Along side other dining restaurants, we were determined to set a standard, not follow one.

The cooking School operated out of the restaurant every Monday right from the start. The classes were ‘hands on’ directed at ‘Self Health’ teaching student’s basic chef skills and organisation and a loose understanding of good nutrition and health. To this day I continue to see students whose lives have changed for the better by attending these cooking courses.

You will be pleased to now that cooking classes will resume at Rock Café, my new cooking school premises, next to Kitchen Expo at 8 Carr Road Mt Roskill on Monday evenings 6pm-9pm, bookings essential. Visit http://www.rockcafe.co.nz for more details.

The cooking classes are one of my real passions, I am always looking at new ways to share and enlighten people through a fun food experience.  Some of my favourite cooking ingredients are shitake mushrooms, miso paste, Soba Japanese Buckwheat noodles, fresh organic veges, Japanese flavours really excite me.

As a father of two young whipper snappers Carlos and Lola, I will be introducing interactive cooking classes for children in the New Year.  During the next few months I will be sharing with you my passion for food, some of my favourite recipes, and some of my favourite flavours, and the beauty of great fresh food equating to a great healthy life.
I look forward to the blog.

Quite some years since I made the investment of time and cash to feed my self and soul on your food. The recipe book is a stained ragged remnant now. But the learnings and insights underpin all my cooking and my healthy loved ones. Keep going Peter and great to see you here.
