ACCOLADES POUR IN FOR NEW ZEALAND WINES AT THE LIQUORLAND TOP 100

Champion Wine of the Show went to Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009, which also received a trophy and gold medal in the Sauvignon Blanc category.

The wine was selected from a pool of 1,487 entries during the Liquorland Top 100 judging event in Marlborough, with entries being expertly evaluated by a panel of 21 wine connoisseurs from New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Director of the Liquorland Top 100, wine consultant Belinda Jackson, says she was impressed by the standard of New Zealand wines entered into the competition.

“The judges were delighted by the quality of the wines entered into the Liquorland Top 100 across a range of different categories.

“The number of New Zealand wines that were awarded trophies and medals indicates the high standard of wine being produced in our country.”

The awards support results from the Liquorland Top 100 ‘Kiwi Wine Habits’ survey in which 91% over the 1,700 survey respondents said they would chose wine made in New Zealand over wine produced overseas.

Now in its 16th year, the Liquorland Top 100 is the country’s largest commercial wine competition, offering consumers an independent guide to the best wines available in New Zealand.

“Whether you are a wine expert or an amateur, the Liquorland Top 100 provides a trustworthy resource for finding the perfect wine for any occasion,” says Belinda.

“The Liquorland Top 100 includes 15 wine classes across a range of prices, so there is a wine for every palate and budget.”

Liquorland Top 100 trophy and medal winners are available in Liquorland stores across the country from Monday 5 October. To view the full list of award winners, visit your local Liquorland store or http://www.top100.co.nz.
