How would you feel about eating nothing but potatoes for two months?
That’s what one keen potato promoter in the USA has decided to do. Chris Voigt is executive director of the Washington State Potato Commission. He’s pledged to eat nothing but potatoes for two months, and what’s more he’s not eating them with toppings or side dishes or embellishments – just plain potatoes; up to 20 a day.
"I want to show the world that the potato is so healthy that you could live off them alone for an extended period of time without any negative impact to your health," Voigt explained on his website.
Personally I think I would be bored with this diet after, well, one meal. Imagine! It would definitely be one way to lose weight I guess. But I don't think it would be good at all for my mental health.
Speaking of health, there are worse things you could eat if you were only going to eat one food. Eating just potatoes will give you some nutrients, for sure – they contain vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium and fibre. But over time you’d definitely miss out on other important nutrients, too. So don’t try this one at home, folks!

And what about you? If you had to choose just one food to eat for 2 months, what would it be?
