Sachie Nomura - ‘Blog - Sachie’s Kitchen’


Sachie is the founder of Sachie’s Kitchen, New Zealand’s first fully dedicated and state-of-the-art Asian & Japanese Cooking School located in Parnell, Auckland. 

Sachie has been a Kiwi for well over a decade, hailing from Aichi, a prefecture of Japan located in the Tokai region of the Chibu region, but most well known for being where Toyota originates from! She had the unique opportunity to spend a decade learning, living with
and being schooled by a number of the top Japanese chefs in Auckland while they were on their OE, where she learnt how to cook simple but really tasty recipes at home using home ingredients and utensils. Her philosophy is around ‘accessible cooking’ so most of the most
of the recipes you can find from the team at Sachie’s Kitchen teaches are traditional family recipes handed down through generations.

“Cooking is quite scary for a lot of people, particularly Asian & Japanese food which is a bit unkown – so our team is not about cooking like a restaurant chef – we’re about nourishing and having fun when you’ve got 3 screaming children and spouse nagging for food! You
need to be able to prepare something quick, delicious and with variety, because you can’t get into a bad mood over good food. It makes you laugh and puts a smile on your face” says Sachie.”

You can find Sachie on regular appearances on TV1’s Good Morning TV, Breakfast TV and contributes to Food & Health & Fitness magazines. Keep your eyes on the telly as a new TV show showcasing Sachie & NZ/Japan/Asia is in the works.

Apart from food – her passion is spending time with her family, travelling back to Asia & exploring as many eateries as possible, kicking back to watch anime, yoga and philanthropic activities with her husband – every time a class is taken at Sachie’s Kitchen – a donation is
made to Nourish the children.
