March was a full on month for the team. We have been intensely training the latest recruits for the year and are delighted with the talent emerging from our own team and those whom we have recruited. A team of great individuals is important but the getting of them into a great team is essential for us to attain our goal of consistently delivering an outstanding dining experience for our guests.

We did a fantastic team exercise one recent Sunday morning. The team was split into 8 teams of 4 and given the task of creating a massive mural depicting what happens, daily, at Logan Brown.
Each group had to create one 8th of the mural without seeing what the other teams were doing. The only communication was between representatives in limited formal meetings, and we had time restraints too. The pressure created some interesting communication breakdowns. See the hilarious result of the exercise below. It’s on our staff dining room wall to remind us about the importance of great communication and team work.
With the finish of day light saving autumn is officially here.
For our industry it’s traditionally a quieter time as tourists drop off and kiwis tend to go into hibernation for a wee bit.
So for us it’s the time of year when we create lots of offers and promotions for you, our important guests, to hopefully entice you back in.
It’s a fun time for us as we rework past successful promos and see how new ones play out.

We have been really pleased that so many more youngsters are becoming interested in good food and the dining experience. It’s been a growing trend since our Hunger for the Wild TV show days and has continued probably with so many TV cooking shows on.
So for the upcoming Easter school holidays we are making it real easy and fun for families to have lunch with us. While remaining focused on a quality dining experience we have a few fun and educational diversions to keep the junior foodies and care givers happy.
Imagine your child guessing correctly how many Whitakkers milk Chocolate Sante bars are in the jar and wining the lot!

Pearls, Diamonds, Champagne and Oysters are a more adult diversion!

We are talking about the romance, luxury and indulgence of a promotion starting early May. Enjoy Louis Roederer Champagne and/or juicy fresh oysters and a get chance to win a stunning pearl and diamond necklace worth $6.5K made by Tory & KO Jewellers.

All scientific evidence points to the fact that humans should start their day with a decent breakfast, for their health’s sake.
Too true but they should tag on to that report that a decent lunch is also very important. Especially, a nice hot lunch consisting of three tasty healthy courses, served in a cosy dining room, with a warm welcome and a delicious glass of wine shouted by the manager. Nourishing for the body and mind! $39.50 from May 2nd.

We supported Oxfam’s Fair Trade Coffee break campaign again this year. We choose Fair Trade products at any opportunity we get as it’s an easy way to help producers in third world countries have a better deal for their toil.
The winning bid of $850 scored a degustation lunch with matching wines with their ‘best” friend and lucky me. She is also taking up the opportunity of a mornings work experience in the kitchen to work up an appetite.

Until next month eat, drink and be merry!
