RE:High Tea
Martha's Pantry is lovely but is quite small - max 10/table reservation.
Hippopotamus Restaurant at the Museum Hotel is much bigger so will take a large group. Afternoon tea is lovely but not as quirky as Martha's. Good selection of savoury & sweet and more than enough to go around.
A friend has been to James Cook and said it was 'ok'. Can't tell you anymore than that.
Whatever you decide, I hope it's lovely and you enjoy it!

RE:High Tea
Hi there, Museum Hotel does it and my mother-in-law swears by it for a ladies high tea. She said it was excellent quality and amazing surrounds and lovely service. I have not done the high tea but have stayed there - amazing place. Where the high tea is it is set amongst famous artworks the hotel is just gorgeously lush. $25 for high tea - contact them. Think bookings are done through the hotel itself or Hippopotamus Restaurant which is located inside it.

High Tea
I am planning a high tes with the ladies from work. Any recommendations for places that do a special high tea. I have found three in Wellington, Marthas Place, James Cook Hotel and Kirks. Id love some reviews before we book.
