I've often found that people have different expectations of restaurant experience too - so what might be crappy to you may be great to me and vice versa - I reckon you should go on your own experience and not others - maybe they were just having teething problems if there are new chefs.

If you thought your last visit was great, then you're being harsh by taking it on faith from someone else who didn't. I don't get that.
It's hard enough for restaurants in this climate to succeed but shouldn't you be the judge of your own experience?

New Yorker Steak House Chch
I heard a horror story from a fellow staff member that dined at the New Yorker Steak House in chch. Staff treating them very, very badly, water glasses with lip stick, condensation on wine glasses, bad....bad....bad. I am very disapointed, as my partner and i dined there a wee while ago, and it was great. But i have heard that there is a new Sous Chef and Head Chef. So that is probably why!!!!! It was a great place, but after hearing this, I will not dine there again, and niether will people I know.
