CHEESE MAKING COURSES - 18/19 September, Taranaki ‘Cutting the Curd’ with Katherine Mowbray
Dates: 18th and 19th September 2009
Venue: White Cliffs Brewery, Main Road North, Urenui, Taranaki

Katherine Mowbray has been making cheese for 20 years and enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of cheese making through her popular courses around New Zealand. We are delighted to welcome Katherine back to Artisan Wines after her very popular run of cheese making sessions last year. Katherine is also launching her new book ‘Cutting the Curd’ which sets out the basic principles behind cheese-making and includes simple delicious recipes. Katherine’s courses are great for the beginner and those who have dabbled in the ‘art’ – it’s a good opportunity to see what equipment and ingredients you need, where to source it from and just how satisfying it is to make your own cheese.

AN INTRODUCTION TO CHEESEMAKING & LEARNING HOW TO MAKE MOZZARELLA

Maria Lempriere is an experienced event organiser who specialises in Lifestyle Food Making Courses e.g. learning the art of making cheese, bread, sausages and more. She organizes courses in Auckland and Taranaki and is a member of the Slow Food movement. [Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. To do that, Slow Food brings together pleasure and responsibility, and makes them inseparable.] In addition, she works part time as the marketing manager for Vernon Systems, a company that develops collection management software for museums, galleries, groups & individuals around the world.
